Intermittent start - 2013 Prius v

    I'm not sure how to begin searching for a solution. I've tried and none of the info is applicable - sorry if this is a common problem and this is a redundant post.

    My 2013 Prius v is acting strange. It refuses to start on occasion. It eventually does but sometimes I have to try up to a dozen times. I took it to the dealer's service center and they didn't figure it out. I've created a video -


    Any input/suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    Two second video is no help. What have you changed? Maf? Pcv? Egr cleaning? 12v load test? How old is that battery? We need a brain dump.

    Sounds like I should begin with the auxiliary battery because I haven't changed it since I bought it three years ago and who knows how long it was before that. And then maybe I can tear into the aforementioned list of other things to check into. Thanks!

    Thanks, everyone! Went to have the aux batt tested and it was low. Turns out it was the original from 2012!! Replaced it and everything seems resolved.

    There ya go! Into 2024 and beyond!

    Just find a new dealership, since they couldn’t figure out the issue.
