I would like to ask my international friends to look into DVDs of the sitcom "WKRP in Cincinnati". I have looked into purchasing a DVD set, but have found out that all the original music has been removed. Either because they could not acquire permission to use it or they just didn't want to pay the royalties to the artists/labels. There are multiple problems with this, of course. 1) The music played a very important role in the show (who can forget that Johnny Fever kicked off the new format with Ted Nugent's "Queen of the Forest"?) 2) There are times when dialogue is over the music. To remove the music, they had to redub the vocals. So I'm asking anyone international to look into a WKRP dvd box set to see if they might have been released unaltered.
wow what a bummer!! sometimes, the copywrite laws go overboard and this is definitely the case, especially when most of the times, you are only hearing a few seconds of the song. pretty pathetic i think although, in Nugents case, im sure its all him. i was a diehard fan of nugent because i was living in Michigan when he became real big, but i have since soured on him because his political views are just too much for me to handle.
