A while back I was driving in town when approaching a stoplight and my Prius lurched, and all the lights came on (ECL, ABS, Trac. Control, and Check Hybrid System). Went into what I've read around here is described as "limp mode." I'm able to drive it but shifting into higher gears is an issue. Once I get above 30 mph I have to accelerate about 1 mph every two seconds or it sounds like the engine is going to explode.

Anyways, I took it into a dealer and they pulled the codes P0A94 & P324E. They said they took a look and the IPM is fried. Estimated replacement cost would be ~$3000. While this part is usually under warranty, unfortunately my Prius is a salvage title so the warranty doesn't apply.

I have a few questions as I'm at a bit of a loss. First and foremost, how much can I get for this thing? Someone I know but don't necessarily trust is going to make me an offer today. He wants to sell it for parts. I'm also curious if it sounds like the dealer is right and that the fix would cost around this much? In all honesty, as much as I loved my Prius, I think I'm done with them. I do a lot of outdoor winter activities and need to move onto something a bit more robust. Snow tires work but when I need to trudge through more than a foot of snow it's just a no-go.

    The details of my Prius:
    Year: 2010
    Color: Black
    Mileage: ~144k

Everything else was working fine on it. I did need to replace the Muffler Heat Shield and the driver side rear bumper was a bit loose but nothing that couldn't be easily fixed up. So I'd say it's just in decent to average condition. Oh I also just put brand new tires on it too.

Sorry if this is the wrong forum. Just looking for a little guidance here so I can make the right financial decisions.

EDIT: I don't know why I said smart converter module. It was a fried IPM (Inverter Intelligent Powertrain Module)

Yeah so you need to just get an inverter assembly look around they're cheap they're not it's not something you need to run out and buy brand new forget about that just fine to used one LKQ whatever I've bought them for 60 bucks some of these had a repair campaign to do something inside of them so later models would be probably better because the campaign will have been done more than likely or it was after a certain time anyway but a gen 3 inverter assembly It should be not a problem to find when I pass them up at LKQ all the time.
