My prius c just rolled over 160,000 kms and the dealer told me i need to have my engine/inverter coolant changed. Since my powertrain warrany is almost up I was thinking of doing this myself. I am mechanically inclined and have lots of tools. Have done a number of engine rebuilds from crank bearings , cams, timing belts and pistons, on ohc engines as well as pushrod v8's. So I feel this should be a no brainer but am having some problems finding some documentation on this as it seems the "c" is different from the liftback when it comes to inverter coolant. Has anybody done this yet on the "c" and if so can you shed some light on what is required? I understand the draining is done via a drain cock under the car, and is the system bled the same as the liftback? Does the "c" have issues with its inverter pump and should this be replaced as a preventative measure?
Not really any reason to change the inverter coolant. If it gets low for some reason just add some. Inverters do go bad but I’ve never changed one for preventative maintenance.
