I have a 2005 Prius. The check engine light came on 6 days ago along with the VSC and Brake System Warning Light. It then went off after turning the car off but then came back on a few days later. The VSC and Brake system Warning Light come on and go off periodically. The check engine light now stays on. The car seems to run fine but I noticed that the a/c and cruise control don't work when the VSC and Brake Warning System Light are on. I took the car to my mechanic and he got a code P0A93- inverter cooling system performance code. He said he did not feel comfortable trying to fix this. I am taking it to the dealer tomorrow. Is there any way I can tell/predict if I just need a pump or a new inverter? All of the codes are in yellow. Thanks for your input Stuart
Hi Stuart, You just need a new inverter coolant pump, which is located behind the driver's side headlight assembly. To confirm that the inverter is OK, drive the car when the powertrain has cooled down. If you don't see any warning lights and the car works OK, then the inverter is fine. Don't overdo it though, because you don't want to overheat the inverter unnecessarily while the coolant pump is not operative.
I have 85,000 miles on the car and this is the first problem I have had. Thanks for the info. and I will let you know how it turns out.
You were right. I had the pump replaced today and all is well. Thank you very much for the info. It was nice going into the dealer with good information.
