Hi All Have any of you tried installing a different water pump rather than the one that matches OEM part number on a Prius? I'm asking because from what I've read online these are notorious for breaking and I saw some guy on YouTube do a hillbilly modification by installing a BOSCH (P/N:0392023004) water pump from Mercedes W211. Is this a valid option? Because on spec sheet I saw that BOSCH can pump 900 liters per hour and pressure of 0.1BAR, but I couldn't find what the numbers are on stock prius pump.
From what I've read the most common theme with the failure stories is the use of poor quality 3rd party parts or outright OEM knock-off (read counterfeit) parts. The genuine Toyota part lasts well over 160,000 km or 10 years. Your mileage may vary.
Hey I can't find that video anywhere, do you know the title or have a link or anything? Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
