Thinking about swap the inverter in 2010 to a 2015 inverter. 2015 has different part number and doesn't have tsb or recall on it vs 2010 to 2014 does. My Prius has a rebuilt title, so dealer won't do anything in terms recall or tsb, so I have to replace on my side. Will 2015 inverter replace 2010 since 2015 has different part number and redesigned. Is 2015 and 2010 interchangeable, last question, after inverter swap, do I have to reprogram in order to run, thanks. Tom
Most people who sell parts will have the documentation to determine if it's compatible. For my 2007 for example, they told me that you need a different inverter if vehicle was made after July of that year, or what they call a "split year." Another way I quickly find out about compatibility is on Ebay, which has a compatibility checker on all auto parts once you find the one you think you might by.
Just a quick look at the plugs on the inverter should tell you very quickly of what's happening I don't think it would be worth it to gut your inverter frame and try to swap over whatever you could so what if there's a recall in 2010 to 2014 they rarely really really go bad I've heard of a handful in the whole time I've dealt with prii.. and you can find Gen 3 at LKQ and places like that and buy those suckers for 70 bucks. so I have a few Gen 3's I have one gen two and I think that's about it.
