Got a power outage for 2 days, and I have an inverter. Is it better to hook it up on 2010 Prius or 2017 highlander?
To supply refrigerator and freezer mostly

I guess safe to use, too. Hooking up to 12V or plug in fuse box ?

Wow you're going to have enough voltage from a 12 volt battery and a Prius which is quite small to run 120 volt refrigerator and whatever else you said in this thing that doesn't seem good to be honest about it but maybe I would think you'd want to be pulling off the big battery some kind of way That's what you power the house with I thought.

Highlander has a bigger high voltage battery to keep the 12v battery charged so engine will run less often to charge the hybrid battery.

There are lots of threads about how to run an inverter off of the 12 volt.
I suggest reading through one or more.
I think you need pretty heavy cables coming off of the battery, iirc

You need to connect directly to the 12v battery and keep the car in Ready so that the inverter converter supplies the power.

A lot depends on the power your refrigerator and your freezer pulls. Assuming you are talking separate devices, they could draw 750 watts each for a total of 1500 watts. Even if they are smaller or more efficient the startup amp draw requires a decent sized setup like a 1500 watt inverter. That size inverter will draw 100 amps on 12v power depending on the actual load and really needs 4 awg wires or bigger.

I will add that in order to avoid unproductive expenses in the preparedness mode, it is worth turning off all possible equipment in the car as much as possible.
Headlights, lighting outside and inside, the dashboard should be darkened as much as possible, turn off the radio, air conditioning, various connected gadgets, cameras, scanners, etc.

And the shorter and thicker the connection cables, the less losses.

Thanks everyone, ran the highlander about 2 hours, just only hooked up a refrigerator and small items to charge up. The battery terminals were pretty hot when unplugging the inverter

That means the connection was poor. Generally you need lugs that are bolted on to the battery terminals.
