I just bought a 2010 Prius III (built 2010) about 2 months ago. I didn't realize it but the prius I have doesn't have a usb port. Wish I hadn't missed. I've been reading the forum here but I'm not sure whether I understand the answer or not. So I just want to confirm this Since I have an early 2010 Prius the JBL radio in the car won't support adding the USB connections to the stereo. If I want to control the IPod via the steering wheel my only option is the Toyota Prius iPod Interface Integration Kit. Is that correct? Thanks in advance, - Kristina BTW, I'm getting 51 mpg over the 1300 miles I've driven the car to date thanks to the wonderful posting people have made here.
My recollection is that the USB / iPod connector only works with nav. And even then, "works" seems to be a generous description, based on all the negative feedback I've read here (try a search if you're interested).
Toyota kits don't work with the jbl system. it's because the unit has an embedded satellite chip which can't be turned off. usaspec makes a unit which I've had in my car for a year now. it works well but, not perfect. http://priuschat.com/forums/gen-iii...-ipod-integration-kits-help-2.html#post977038
