Hymotion 2011 IRS Tax Credit Question - Form 8910 I had the Hymotion Conversion done to my '08 Prius late last year. I am doing my taxes (at the last minute of course), and am stuck at trying to fill out the IRS Alternative Motor Vehicle Credit #8910 Form. Line 4 is for Credit Allowable (see instructions for amount to enter)". Well, the instructions for "Credit Allowable don't answer the question. They mention "You can generally rely on the manufacture's certification of the credit allowable as explained earlier." UH? My understanding is that the Credit is 10% of the total cost of the conversion. I know that there is a Maximum Credit Allowable of $4000. If I put 10% of my cost on line 4, or if I put $4000. there, the math doesn't work out right. Both of these figures come up later on the form on lines 8 & 9. Sorry if I can't see the forrest for the trees, and if this is a stupid question. I hope someone who has filled out the 8910 form can help me figure this out. If not I will have to get in line at H&R Block on Monday! Patrick
What makes you think you can? First, the (non-plugin) hyrbid tax credit was only on NEW vehicles and 2nd, per Federal Tax Credits for Hybrids "Toyota hybrids purchased after September 30, 2007, are not eligible for this tax credit." And, why did you post in a Hymotion thread? Do you have a www.hymotion.com kit?
OP and the poster I quoted in post #2 don't appear to be the same person. A used (non-plugin) Prius is totally ineligible for any tax credits. The post in post #2 never answered my questions.
