I have seen them around $16k. I've searched on various things. Everyone has their good and bad stories. I don't even know what to look for when searching for a hybrid, used. What are good miles for it (is it like any car on that)? Is 2010 okay? Thanks.
buck, we have to stop meeting like this. but seriously, they're all great years and great cars. best thing you can do is take a new one for a test drive, then see how the used ones compare. also, reset your trip meter and see what kind of mpg's your getting. it's a bit different display from gen II to III, so you'll have to learn how to do each. lastly, each year has a number of different option packages, so you need to learn about them as they can effect price greatly.
Well I hope 2010 is a good year because my fiancee and I each have a red one! They each had 70K+ miles when we bought them. I have driven mine 11K miles in 3 1/2 months. I use 87 octane non-ethanol gas and get calculated MPG of 52 to 53 MPG. I have 3 kids and the 5 of us can ride comfortably including plenty of roon for luggage for trips. I have owned a lot of cars over the years and I feel this is the best one I have ever owned. However I do remember the days of 3 kids in a car seats, which is when a minivan is still the best choice. The one my fianee bought is Toyota Certified and she purchased an extended warranty. With any used vehicle, drive it, check it out and test drive others to compare. I drove a 2009 that when the ICE would start it would start rough, even after it was warmed up. I walked away from that one. All in all during my searching for a Prius I found no reason to avoid a 2010. I did conclude I prefer the design improvements of the Gen III. I do wonder how much the price of the 2010 will drop after the 2014 is available.
