I have a 2012 Prius V, Level 5. I have seen various dongles for sale. Is there one that allows you to mirror your phone? (Many thanks. I promise I searched the forums first.)
Dongles are a bad word around here. Cause much ado about nothing. Are you talking about an obd2 bluetooth interface to allow code reading and data using a phone app? Exactly what problem or purpose do you want to solve? Do you want Car Play on the screen? By the way new members are moderated for five posts so we can't see your response until they review it first. Could take hours. Yea I know, first dongles then censorship...
Like the mirror function of CarPlay/Android Auto? No, not really as the headunit must support it. Best thing to do is get an aftermarket radio with CarPlay/AA; in wired (cable connection) or wireless. No dongles. BTDT
Thanks for the clarification and advice. Yes, I was just hoping to mirror my iPhone or get CarPlay functionality. I had priced out a new head unit and they said $1,500. Doesn't seem worth it for a ten year old vehicle.
I am an Uber driver, and would love to have such a function. Maybe you could tie into the backup camera input... but the stock display that came with the 2012 is pretty low resolution. If what you want is Carplay / Android Auto experience.. Go aftermarket. I came up with this Phone mount that mounts the phone between the end of the console, and the bottom of the head unit. Maybe that would give you what you want without the costly upgrade. It works great for me because I wear bifocals, and having the phone down low puts the phone into the close up part of my glasses, without moving my head. Also having my wrist on the console allows for accurate button pushing while my eyes are on the road ahead. Phone Mount @ the Front of Console (Good for Ubering) | PriusChat
