Don't you really mean "INexpensive" ? About the only thing that a C will pull reliably is a very small "pop-up" tent camper. And even then it might be over the stated capacity.
I'd have to agree. I've towed with my c, they really can't handle much. The absolute lightest of the light teardrops and pop-ups would work, but that's where I'd draw the line, personally. Basically the same stuff you would tow with a large motorcycle or trike. Example for size- I've never used this trailer and this is not an endorsement, but it should give you an idea of what I'm describing.
I pop-up IS beyond the two capacity of a Priussy on paper and (probably) real world as well. I saw a camping thread herein where somebody used a camping screen house with a Prius. That looked fairly interesting. If I absolutely HAD to camp with a C-type I would probably look at the smallest/lightest pop-up that they make and use it CAREFULLY. People tend to confuse 'towing' with 'pulling' and forget that it can be a little dangerous to tow a 3,000 pound object with a 2,500 pound object.....especially if you want to do trivial things like turn, and stop. Tractor trailers often tow/haul objects that are much heavier than they are, but they are purpose-built for this task, and much more importantly, special training and licensing is required.......and often THEY get out over their skis on the road...... Google "runaway ramp"....
