2008 Prius Package 6 99000miles $8,500 cleat title Silver body is clean leather interior. How good of a deal is that? or is it common to find these deals?
Well in theory it could be non-CARB car being sold just before 100k miles. Toyota disqualifies from CARB warranty any car not orig sold/registered in CARB state. So that's one thing.
Well Carfax reports rear end damage but no structural damage and no airbag deployed. only one service is on Carfax. But the owner says he'd get his services done as recommended by the dealer. How does the battery Warranty work?
I don't think the car is a deal. It doesn't have proper service records and there's an accident on record. $8500 should get you much better
check the local craigslist ads, check them often. I use to see deals daily on there. The Los Angeles marketplace is realllly big.....especially for the Prius.
Does the CARB warranty continue if the car leaves CA and is registered in a different non-CARB state?
Not supposed to carry over. The CARB warranty normally is intended for cars registered in CARB states. This the one golden rule for all manufacturers, repair must be in CARB state. I think in some cases if the warranty is not clearly stated you may have a valid court case. Consumer Reports has talked about this in a few cases (non Toyota). What state are we talking about?
Michigan currently, but in 10 years could be somewhere out west. Son lives in CA and is a new grad and he could purchase then transfer to me. I could do a visit where I fly out and drive back. New prices do seem to be lower in CA. The extra incentive and warranty would be a bonus.
Keep in mind the Toyota CARB rules require that the orig purchase, orig register, and normally drive in a CARB state. If you have your son purchase, but register in MI, that could negate the CARB. However, if you do purchase and register in CA, then the car can be in non-CARB state, if you take it back to CA for registration, you would be covered...in others words IN-OUT-IN CARB is covered, or at least that's what Toyota told me.
I would have my son purchase and register, then do a family title transfer (no sales tax) and I would title/register in MI. The unknown would be if warranty is called for, would he still live in CA to transfer back. Might also look suspicious and get rejected.
