So car won't start intermittently. I had a bad battery and had been jumping the cables and driving car around with no battery for the 2 days since I owned it. I since bought a new battery and this is when intermittent start issues emerged. Very often I press button and car won't start at all I disconnect battery , jump it and it always starts. I'm thinking maybe battery bad even though it's new ? I've read several threads about fuses and shit and it's clearly not the problem as it is intermittent and sometimes it starts on the battery and sometimes not. But 100% of the time it starts with my jumper pack. Any help ? I've checked key fob battery, oil level is fine there's fuel. Spark and timing is correct as car runs and drives perfect. Hybrid system is functioning. Car gets great mpg Any help ?
1. what jump point are you using? Trunk or under the hood? 2. Get the battery checked at the place you bought it. 3. check for loose battery connection. Can you rotate the connection on the battery post? Did you loosen and rebend those cheap battery clamps; so they are tight and clamped down correctly?
First WAG? - you have a failing Combination Meter (speedo) that won't turn on properly due to a bad capacitor on the circuit board. When the CM has problems, it often prevents the car from powering on. The CM usually "gets worse" after replacing a weak 12V battery. There's a sticky thread on DIY CM repair at the top of the Care & Maintenance discussion forum. Or you can look up TexasHybridBatteries.com - they repair CM units. Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
