I have issues with this but here it is: As someone who has put 1 and 1.5 kW inverters in two Prius, I have a big problem with the claim that the Mirai is configured to supply house power. I don't believe it but welcome credible source that it exists in the North American, USA model Prius/Mirai or any others. Bob Wilson
The 2016 Mirai's didn't have it, but it is suppose to be an option once the inverters become available state(California) side. It uses the same system that plug ins in Japan use to power homes. A CHAdeMO plug is used to connect the car to a power station(which also acts as the EVSE for a plug in) installed at the home. It might be like a hard wired generator, with switch over in a power loss being automatic. The CHAdeMO PTD is in the Mirai's trunk. Which I guess means you have to have it all in your garage or car port, if you don't want to risk rain in your trunk.
good question. of course, if you leave your trunk open outside in cali, you might not have a battery when you come out in the morning.
Ok, guess we'll just have to treat it as Gen-1 Mirai. Of course the thieves will drill a hole in the H{2} tank while smoking a cigarette: Bob Wilson
That would make for some good youtube viewing. Don't even need an ignition source when the tank pressure is at 10,000psi.
