    Hi. Have on loan a 2014 Prius wagon. After a battery recharge the prius will not go into gear (R or D) and a dashboard orange warning light flashes. Has a "P" in a box and an arrow pointing at the "P"?

    Is it possible that during the (assuming 12V auxiliary) battery recharge, polarity was even briefly reversed?

    would be worth having the battery tested before going down the lengthy and complicated diagnosis path.
    btw, what does 'on loan' mean?

    You need to use an OBD2 scan tool to read the trouble codes.
