Going on 4 weeks ago my dealer called and said an incoming car was allotted to me and would be here some time on the first two weeks of July. Today I got a phone message saying that the car was "status G" which meant that it would be coming in any day now. I just called him back to get the VIN, etc. for financing and he corrected himself and said that the car is ON THE LOT! Seaside Blue, package 6, at MSRP. Tax (6%), tags, mats, cargo net, etc. puts it at $30,207.75. Now to see how fast the CU can jump!
Congratulations! My dealer beat the "Green" rate from my credit union, with an auto loan from the bank I have an online account with. I was happy.
The dealer offered to match, but not to beat, my CU rate of 5%/48 months, despite my telling them that I'd be interested if they could beat it. I had already set up the paycheck allotment to cover the payments via the credit union so there had to be something in it for me. Then the CU offered another quarter percent lower since I'm a 25-year member. So I'm all set with automatic paycheck deductions and automatic biweekly loan payments. The only catch is I have to wait for the check to arrive in the mail - it will be Monday or Tuesday...
My CU rep pre-approved me and gave me a fax# for the bill of sale, so I could stop by and pick up the check the same day. Would have meant another round trip to the dealer, but the dealer beat the CU by almost 1/2pct at the bank where I already had accounts. Sweet.
pdhenry, Congratulations!! Now the only thing that scares me is your car is on the lot (maybe not prepped yet for you to be ready to pick up this instant), but how far away is your credit union from your home or work? Is your check already indeed in the mail or can you get by there to pick it up in person (if it IS ready now). If you have to wait until Mon or Tues, I'd be afraid that some other salesperson might be able to jerk that out from under you (things like that have alreadyto customers that even had VIN #'s assigned to them). Or your car could be used for numerous test drives (since no dealer usually has any Priuses on the lot now). Ken (in Bolton,Ct)
Check from the Credit Union to pay for the car? Normally the dealership just drafts on the bank or credit union, all done by computer, Credit Union faxes drafting instructions to the dealership and all is done.
I'm not worried about test drives. The car was marked as "sold" as soon as it came in (the salesman needed to go offline to get me the VIN because it no longer sshowed up in his computer once it went to "sold") and the dealership doesn't let sold cars out for test drives (I learned this when I first started looking in May). I could have driven to Willow Grove (200 miles round trip) to pick up the check (or probably to Annapolis but I think she was only looking in PA) but that seemed to be overdoing it a bit.
Picked it up today. The Seaside Blue is a purrrty color. The salesman said they're no longer selling at MSRP, but at $1-2000 above.. They're also not taking names for a waiting list, but selling their allotments as they come in (and it doesn't take more than a few minutes, even at a couple grand above list). Didn't really have time today to get very acquainted with all the bells & whistles. Maybe a bit more time tomorrow.
Congrats!! We were lucky to get our '07 way under msrp. Must have been before the rush...and the gas increases. Giles Labelle, of westboro motors gave me all the info on the prius and he had the best prices east of the mississippi...we used the info he gave us and his prices...and went to a Knoxville, Tn. dealer (toyota of knoxville) and made a great deal!!
Congrats everyone. My aunt is also waiting for her Silver Package 6 to arrive anytime this month. She is not into computers, so there is a very slim chance that she will ever be in this forum. It seems like Toyota is making a lot more package 6's than base models lately.
maybe they need to use up those leather seats they have overproduce...doubt it. in my area there seem to be a lot of pkg. 2s available.
the question is how long is the wait? u would rather pay the $500 now instead of having to wait 7 months to get it.
So is MIIIINNNNE!!! Took delivery this evening after work. Mag gray #2 w/ floor mats. Dealership was finishing up the prep work (wash, floor mat install, etc.) so we started the paperwork. No problems whatsoever, honored my original discount even though we had to change from requesting a Touring (none coming to Ohio, apparently they're going to the Southwest:fear so I got it for @200 under MSRP, no add on charges. Ordered my 2008 barcellona red #6 on May 22nd. I got the car on Monday, July 7th. Today I took it in to get rustproofing, paint sealant and mud flaps. I ordered the hood protector from Toyotapartsstore.com and I ordered the nav shield from NuShield.com. Next I will get the extended warranty. The dealer tried to sell me the rustproofing and paint sealant for $549 plus tax. I got it done by ztech for $450. Ztech also will install 4 mud flaps for $40. The money I saved paid for the hood deflector and the mud flaps. When I picked up my car, the salesman was impressed by how much I already new about the prius. I told him I learned it all from the internet. He told me not to believe everything that I read. I thought the #6 package was the "touring" package, but evidently it isn't because I have the 15 inch wheels.
