Greetings, I decided to purchase the extended warranty for my 2006 Prius that had 35K miles on it. I went for the 6yr/100K $0-deductible Platinum plan. I went through Troy Dietrich and I am glad I did. Hi prices are super competitive and the whole transaction took minutes. Troy can be reached at (413) 772-0989 -Adriano
I bought my extended warranty from Troy, as well. I'll have 100,000 miles on my Prius within a couple of months, so it looks as though I won't be using the warranty, but I'm glad I got it anyway, just for the added security it provided. Troy is definitely the guy to go to for the warranty.
We just purchased a 7/100 from Troy two days ago for our 2007 Prius. The transaction was as simple as pie. At some point soon we'll get a warranty card directly from Toyota Financial Services.
Dave, That speaks well of your Prius in that you did not need to use the extended warranty in 100,000 miles. I always purchased the extended warranty on my "past" Chevrolets and always used them to the full extent and most often double. I hope that I do not have to use my extended warranty either.

I can't help but wonder if it would have been a better idea to put the money you paid for the extended warranty into a Money Market Account earning 5% interest and use that if you ever needed major repairs. Toyota claims their vehicles are more trouble free than other vehicles, so you may never need the extended warranty making it a waste of hard earned money. Money Market Accounts are very liquid and some are just like checking accounts, just something to think about. I have done this in the past because I rarely ever use an extended warranty.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(Rest @ Jul 18 2007, 02:12 PM) </div> Toyota's cars are, on average, more trouble free than others. However, when things go wrong with the Prius, it can get to be very costly. There are several recent threads of very expensive repairs on cars that were out of warranty in the Care, Maintenance and Troubleshooting and the Prius Technical Discussion forums.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(Rest @ Jul 18 2007, 02:12 PM) </div> I paid $875.00for the 6/100,000 warranty. The 7/100,000 is available for $990.00. The reason I bought mine is because it was the first model year of the redesign, and the MFD was a known issue. If had purchased a subsequent model year, I most likely would NOT have purchased the warranty.
B) When I purchased my 2004 in Nov. 2003 I purchased the platinum warranty from Troy. I did have to use it one time when a sensor went out. I had 50,000 miles on the car. It would have cost me over 400 dollars. So with the warranty it was nothing. I know some one is going to say you are still out 450.00 dollars. But I say not so. I traded in my 2004 in January for a fully loaded 2007 Prius w/leather, Nav, Bluetooth, ASC and again purchased the platinum warranty from Toyota again. What was nice is I still had 41,000 miles left on my warranty for the 2004, when I traded it in, and I received a refund from Toyota on my warranty.
