With the help this forum provides, I decided to make a donation and wondered how many other people have or have not. This is just my own curiousity.
we were able to donate recently, and were more than happy to do so. only wish it could have been more. maybe when my stipend increase goes through.
If I use my hourly pay as a physician multiplied by the number of hours I've spend working as a moderator......
for those that didn't know that donations can be made.... here you go.... http://www.priuschat.com/forums/portal.php?page=3
I used to maintain a couple websites of my own. A long long time ago on a webserver far far away. I know what it's like to do something like that and have no one notice or receive nothing for it. When I became addicted to Priuschat, I knew it was something special and something that should be maintained and given the proper support it deserves. For that reason, I donated. Mostly, it was to show some token of appreciation more than to support Danny's non-Prius-driving, Honda-sports-car-driving gasoline habits.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(TonyPSchaefer @ May 3 2006, 01:36 PM) </div> The MR2's a Toyota, luckily, not a Honda. But Danny's marrying into a Honda-owning family, so there will be a little cross breeding. And the non-Prius-driving status could be changing, from what I hear...
Yeah. Danny's coming to Chicago to get his '06 Prius. I thought for sure he had a Honda for a while there. I'm often wrong.
My guess is that this site gets a huge amount of page loads a day. Each pageload gives a google ad bar. I'm not sure how many of those google links get hit per day, or how much it pays if we click on one, but from my initial understanding of the google ads thing, it can be a pretty good thing. If everyone here clicked through 5 of those ads a day, I think Danny would be in the tropics somewhere on a wireless device managing the server... and checking in on his growing stock and bond portfolio. Who knows the google ad business... is it good stuff, or basically peanuts? People, start clicking on the ads... Daddy needs new shoes!!
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(daronspicher @ May 3 2006, 09:49 PM) </div> Even if it was everyone's "exit strategy"...clicking on the ads on their way out of PriusChat, before they load their next bookmark, I'm sure that would help quite a bit.
I've donated. Mostly in the form of purchasing items through the PC shop... and in the hours spent photo-journaling some of the Prius mods I've done. The EV pontification, however, I offer freely.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(bagwell @ May 3 2006, 10:19 AM) </div> Dang! Wish I could have found that earlier. Instead I took a chance and did a PayPal to and as far as I know it went through. Can you check on that Danny? If ya didn't get it I will resend. Wildkow
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE(efusco @ May 3 2006, 12:18 PM) </div> A physicians pay, Well maybe if you support a raise in the Federal Minimum Wage !!!???? However I do appriciate the time you take, and have noticed when you have steped in and done the right thing.
I donated about a month ago ( actually a subscription ) but never got a confirmation from Danny however I did get the standard paypal subscription confirmation.
I just donated. I meant to earlier but forgot. PriusChat saved me about $1400 on my extended warranty and deserves some of the credit for hosting Troy here. I can't wait to get the T-shirt to wear at formal functions!
