So it begins... This was published at the end of last week and I didn't get a chance to post it until now from the Detroit News. California firms sue Ford over fuel efficiency claims for 2 hybrids | The Detroit News | detroitnews.com
12 in my case. They keep saying wait until it breaks in, first was told 3000 miles, then 6000 miles, and now 10,000 miles. Really 10,000 miles it will magically gain 10 MPG? OOKAY, yeah riight.
Sounds like Ford got caught in a lie. Wonder if the CMax Energi plug in actually gets 20 miles on a charge or they lied about that also.
Well if anything does come from it, the hope on my part is that EPA testing is more realistic for hybrids so that when you buy a car based on EPA, then you are more likely to be able to get those numbers. Toyota does a good job with their cars, Every one I tested and owned lived up to their EPA ratings, Ford, now so well. The 2010 does it, with patience, but the 13? Hell no, that bugger is very difficult to hit 40 in let alone 47. A lot will depend on what the real EPA tests show, if the confirm or deny Fords claim.
That's not the problem, they'll just do it again on another vehicle. The marketing they get from claiming high MPGs means that people consider them when shopping around instead of just ignoring them. When they don't deliver, they don't care since they already sold the car.
Spot on! They already got my money, so why should they care if the car doesn't deliver as promised. This is the attitude that I got from Ford. For such a high dollar item, you really dont have any recourse if you got a bad one, unless you can prove its a lemon, and poor fuel efficiency does not hold up.
