My 2006 Prius makes a loud knock when I stop and again when I start to move. We have replaced the cv axles, wheel bearing hub, and sway rods. Still making noise.

My mechanic is out of ideas and has no idea where it is coming from.

Can anyone help point me out?

    Thank you

it seems the sound happens at the exact time the tire makes a full rotation.

And I'm assuming it'll do the same going forward too correct? I mean a faster ticking noise comes from the wheel bearings many times when they're starting to go but a one clunk like that not so much and like the other poster said it seems to be exactly as the time the wheel is coming around again so I don't know if maybe your lug nuts are tightened incorrectly the wheels not all the way on seated but the lug nuts seem to be tight something along similar lines possibly and as the tire rotates around it clunks as that one spot tries to seat. Or something along those lines You could check backing plates on your brakes but I kind of doubt it doesn't sound like that.
