I'm looking to buy a 2012 PIP with the Advanced Technology package, but was just told, by someone selling one, that it does not have lane maintenance, though much of what I've seen online says it does. When did lane maintenance become avialble, and which Prii potentially have it?....I've heard all new models do...
My 2012 PIP Advanced does NOT have lane assist. It has collision reduction and radar cruise, but not lane assist.
My 2012 PIP has a spot on the steering wheel for an LKA button, but does not have LKA. I assume they had planned to include it but it didn't happen in 2012.
The steering wheel is used in a few different models (Aqua/Prius c, Prius v), so could have been available elsewhere.
As far as I know, it NEVER happened for 1st gen PIP...Even the new Prius Prime only has (irritating, I've been told) lane departure WARNING and NOT lane keep assist....
But of course..;-) LKA...Don't know how to edit the name of this thread to "Lane Keep assist (LKA)" in plug-in Prii? The answer is "no"
Done! The Gen 1 Prius Plug-in does not have Lane Keep Assist in any year. LKA is only available on the Gen 3 Prius which ran from 2010 to 2015 on the V/Five model with the Advanced Technology Package (ATP). LKA is not available on the Gen 4 Prius or Prius Prime. They come with Lane Departure Warning w/ Steering Assist. The difference is LKA is an active system and LDW w/ SA is a passive system.
From what I see NONE of the Gen 3 plug in hybrids have LKA at all. and All the 12-15 prius five models with advanced tech have LKA along with the radar cruise. I really wonder why there is no LKA in the plug in version since the advanced tech package in that car is the same as the prius five
