Last night after some late night shopping, I was trying to put the rear seat back to it's "full and upright position." The latch was not catching. Also, the release button would not go up. It was late, so I didn't look too closely at it. I may just try some WD-40 on it, but since the car is only 2-3 months old, I don't want to be doing just a temporary fix. Anyone have any thoughts on this or have experienced the same problem? Thanks.
On mine I have to slam the seat pretty hard to get the button to go up. Make sure there's nothing blocking the seat from returing fully to that position. If you can't find any problems I'd take it in to be replaced. This is a safety issue if there's an accident.
I have noticed that if the rear seat belts are not in the little clips on top of the rear seats, they get behind the seats and this tiny change in clearance is enough to stop the them from latching. Try reaching back, pulling the belts out of the way and see if that fixes it.
I had the problem and found I had left a bungee cord attached to the clip on the left side, right behind the seat. Remove cord, problem solved.
My loose rear seat latch was discovered while looking for an annoying rattle / squeek. I had to slam the seat pretty hard. Noise gone, seat latched, no problem.
