2013 prius ABS brake booster pump is leaking at the low pressure male nipple on the ABS pump around the seal on the unit itself where it goes into the unit. I've replaced so many of these and diagnosed vehicle brake issues but this is new for me. Rubber line is perfectly fine as well as the male connector itself with no cracks. As soon as you fill the reservoir it leaks from around the bottom of the connector itself. Is it removable with a seal or built in? Can it be sealed externally by silicone since its no pressure just a feed line? I'm open for ideas before replacing completely. Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
It's going to be real tough getting it clean for epoxies and what not to seat and set to do their job. It would seem to me that that stem that plastic fitting should be a pullout type of affair and have an o-ring on it I would think I wouldn't think it's glued in place I guess it could be since it's ambient temperature plastic to aluminum so if that's the case break it and pull it out of there and I think they make self-tapping brass doodads nipple fittings that'll cut their own threads If not I guess you could cut your own threads vacuum out the mess screw in the new titty and be done with your business My question is after you fill the reservoir in the drip starts how long does it take for you to get from one line say full down to the low mark or the next line? Months weeks in the morning? That would determine my repair methodology I guess and I'm assuming you have this thing removed by the looks of it or that's just another picture or whatever. So you have no lights on the dash no issues with the accumulator pump or the actuator part you just have this drip? Is this the original part that came with the car? At some point it's going to wind up getting changed if so.
30 min time to drain the reservoir due to gravity feeding the pump and I thought about these repairs and I'm thinking I have another scrap pump to disassemble Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
Well that's no good That's a pretty stout drip was that reservoir is pretty large or maybe not on the Gen 3 it may be smaller. Anyway yeah looks like you've got to get that fitting out of your spare if that's a thing or see what it takes to get it out of the spare or the damage unit you already have and what it'll take to put the threads in that hole to screw in a gold medal joby so you'll be tapping I don't know quarter inch NPT type of affair 6 mm something.
Forgot to repost the diagnosis/repair Although possible it seems to remove the nipple for the hose I couldn't remove the pin that held it in because it's wedged in there pretty good and no tool I had could withstand pushing it out being that size of a pin/hole I replaced the whole unit. *****note***** I did use the JB weld wet epoxy around it initially and it worked up to 100 miles but started leaking so I do not advise God bless Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
