Has anyone used this adapter at a Tesla station. I have prime Prius 2020. Wouldn’t want burn out battery. Hoping adapter would regulate juice coming thru. Here is article: https://reporterwings.com/news/tech/you-can-power-any-ev-at-teslas-charging-points-with-this-adapter/
i don't see a problem, it only works on tesla L2 charging stations, so it's just adapting teslas proprietary plug to your j1772. your on board charger limits the amperage.
The problem is that you'll be waiting 2 hours for the charge plus whatever they are going to charge you for the recharge. So unless your time isn't worth anything to you; I would just keep driving on gas.
Eh? Tesla destination chargers are typically free. They’re usually located at hotels and parks (National or provincial/state).
"Typically Free" is like she's almost pregnant.... See article: Are Tesla Superchargers Free? (The Real Cost) - Rechargd There's no free lunch; someone has to pay the bill - be it the government, hotel chain, national park services. Think about that, next time one of these entity raises their prices/taxes.
Superchargers are different. This isn’t meant for Superchargers, it’s meant for Destination Chargers. Superchargers were initially paid for by S and X owners as it’s built into the cost of those vehicles. It’s a paid service now for 3 and Y owners (and I believe new S and X owners). Yes, you’re right that someone will foot the bill but if it’s a private entity, how is it different from “free wifi” or “free breakfast”? It’s just included in the price as part of the amenities. This is the same for “free” washrooms at the parks rather than a paid affair.
Some private businesses like hotels are now charging for charging your EV, and the prices are sometimes more than you would pay for gas, so beware, and look at the charger display before spending more than you need too. However, many are free. If you are paying more than $.20 per KW, you might as well buy gas. (Depends on which state you are in, of course).
that's a great option when driving a bev and staying overnight, even if the price isn't right. if you could reserve a charger with a room, that would be even better.
