So, there's gotta be other musicians on this site. I thought it would be fun to list instruments you play I'll go first... I'm an oboist by trade, having studied it for my undergraduate degree. I now teach it 90% of my time and play whenever I can, specialising in contemporary music. I also play Piano, teaching that a little, as well as Bassoon, Saxophone, Clarinet, Pipe Organ, Recorders and Flute. I can teach all of them, but hate both playing and teaching the flute so I tend to not do that so much I taught myself guitar a few years back and like to sing/song write when I have time. But that's something I keep for myself and certainly don't do professionally. I dated four cellists in a row and still can't play a C Major scale on the 'cello, so I've concluded that I can't play orchestral strings to save my life. Brass instruments are also an enigma and while I can bash a tune out on a trombone that's where my skills end... So if we make a band I'm the weird one in the back playing whatever....
I play drums...badly. Used to be OK but after 25 years away from it the rust doesn't come off easily. I got a cheap electric kit for Christmas this past year that's a lot of fun to bang on...rock and roll...no obos! I fiddled with an electric bass for a while and had fun with it, but never learned to play...wish I had. I've got a couple 6 strings around the house, one electric, one a small acoustic travel guitar...can't play a chord. I DO play Guitar Hero (II, III, & Aerosmith) and Rock Band on Xbox360.
I played trombone in high school 30-something years ago. Does that count? More recently I've been dabbling with a harmonica (diatonic, not chromatic -- the latter is too complicated for this simple mind), mainly playing blues. If I can muster up the discipline for regular practice, I think I could do pretty well with it.
Alto sax. I get it out from time to time and every two years when I go back to college for "alumni band". Then I spend 2 days recovering...
Guitar, 5 string banjo, and piano. None of them well. I usually play just enough to try and remember what I used to know. Tom
I can play the stereo. It's my wife that's the musician in the family, though our youngest is doing very well in saxophone lessons.
Sorry, didn't mean to hit a wrong note there. Maybe I should drive the tour bus instead? Or keep the books? Nah, that's too much like work.
I don't play anything well enough to "play". I did take classical guitar for a few years. However....I do have a Bachelor's degree in music and was a voice major...in case you need a singer.
