Toyota made this for the same reason Honda made the "Accord V6 Hybrid" that get only 32mpg...... they were stupid. The 600h only gets 23mpg on the highway. It probably has to pay the $1000 gas-guzzling tax.
Tesla is a drivers car, the lsh appears to be a chaufer driven thing with a very luxurious back seat. It has poor driving dynamics compaed to the non-hybrid and gulp poor fuel economy compared to a plug-in. Compare Side-by-Side combined the mercedes S class plug-in gets 30% better mileage even if you don't plug it in. The model S is the fuel economy king.
