2001 has only two female threads to mount license plate. Should have used stainless screws but didn't and screws rusted and heads must be drilled out to remove. Need help to get the trunk liner off with trashing the plastic clips - never saw any like this before. PS: this is my first post - hope Prius chat is more friendly than Passat - I'll never go over the dark side again!
No need to take out the trunk liner. I've d a lot of screw extractors. These are my favorite; Vermont American 21872 Straight Flute Screw Extractor Set, Red, 5-Piece - Amazon.com Even if the inserts break off with the screws, you can always lnstall "rivet nuts" without taking off the trunk liner.
Good luck getting those screws out. I think you'll find the crowd here friendly, and many extremely technically savvy. You comment about forums reminds me of a post on one of the Lexus forums. A senior member responded to a junior member, by using the term "ad nauseum". Apparently he was responding to a frequently asked question. Some forums are very friendly and some just eat their young.
