I recently bought an 2010 Prius. I'm very satisfied with the car; I like it a lot. However something strange is going on regarding interior and exterior lights. About two weeks ago I noticed that one of my interior lights was still on during the night while being pretty sure I never swithed it on before. I never gave it much thought until yesterday my neighbor allerted me to the fact that my headlights were both on while the car was parked and locked. The light stwitch was set to auto so I figured the lights must have switched on automatically during the dusk. Only after switching them to off, they actually did so after locking the car. To make matter even stranger: both interior lights stayed on after locking the car. Only after manualy switching them off, they stayed off. Does anybody have a clue what's going on here?
I believe you will get both of these symptoms if a door or hatch is not latched completely. Do you lock the car? The car will let you know you have a door/ hatch ajar or bad door/hatch switch when you attempt to lock it.
2010 prius has auto lights? News to me. Was the car switched off? The map reading and hatch lights have to be manually switched off. Locking the car has no effect. You probably didn't notice them on during daylight.
