And the shop says replacing the big battery is the fix? I've been having trouble with it shutting off on me in the middle of driving, and the shop said that its giving an error code for the hybrid converter (or something), and that it is a part in the large battery. They want to change the big battery. From what I've been googling, this doesn't seem to be the case. Can anyone explain if that is either right or wrong?
welcome! doesn't sound right. is this a toyota dealership? how many miles on her? ask them for the codes and post them here.
I called, 2 error, PA1D, 3110. Hybrid control module, and hybrid ECU. Not a dealer, 125k miles or so i think.
There is a maintenance screen, I use a Scangauge II, or a multimeter on the battery itself to show 12 volt battery voltage. When the car has been off for 8 hours, and you are not in READY, the voltage should be near 12.5 volts, let us know. Once you put it in READY, it should jump to near 13.8 volts, let us know.
Negatory. The converter is in the engine bay, a part of the inverter/converter assembly (very visible large box with shiny cover, next to the engine). -Chap
others may correct me, but you may need to go to a dealer for correct codes. how proficient are these gals in prius repair?
Guys, gals, does it really bother bisco? Another thread came out from him as gals yesterday, so I think it's an auto correct error that has taken over his phone.
I would ask for clarification of the "or something", or/and change dealer to one who knows about Prii. BTW Welcome to PriusChat (where most of us know at least something about Prii! ) Good luck!
Be careful with this workshop, they shouldn't be replacing the hybrid battery over this. (Is it possible that they said the inverter but you misunderstood?) Anyway. It's most likely one of the following: 1. The small 12V battery. 2. The DC-DC converter (part of the inverter). 3. The inverter coolant pump (as it shuts down the DC-DC converter when the inverter overheats). Please check that the inverter coolant pump is working before doing anything else. See: maintenance and repair in Anchorage AK | PriusChat Also check the 12V battery voltage. You should see around 13.7 to 14.2 when the Prius is switched on (ready mode). This is a very easy DIY, with or without a voltmeter/multimeter. See: Weird stuff happening? MPGs dropping? Test The Battery | PriusChat
