Listing in the paper is for a 2002, 48K miles, for $8900. Should I jump on it?

I talked to them and they said it was bought at an insurance auction. I guess it had some body damage that's been repaired.

What is the reliability like on those cars? I'm 6'4", would I fit in it? I think I can probably expect double the mpg as for my V6 Solara.

The '02s are pretty small compared to the '04+ Prius so you definately want to sit in it to be sure you're comfortable.
Reliability is very good and you could expect another 200k+ miles out of that car if it's been well cared for. That seems like a great price on it as well.
Definately check out the accident report and such to make sure the frame wasn't damaged and not other 'hidden' issues.
