I used to have other car that used to make a loud beep upon locking. My prius 2010 III is bit nimble and social. It blinks and makes a little chirp. I would rather need a loud beep so it helps me locate and ensure my car is locked especially in noisy environments. I find on the forum after searching 100+ threads there is no clear suggestion how this can be done. Can you please help?
Have you tried your owners manual? I don't have mine available to reference right now but if I recall correctly there are 7 volume settings and that it may be set to the loudest from the factory. There are a few threads regarding the locking beep here on PC.
Does they need to be set by the Dealer? Can I make the changes? Not sure which section, but will go through the manual page-by-page. Any help?
It is a user adjustable setting, you should be able to change it if you can figure how. I would help you look for it but I am geographically separated from my car and manual at this time.
It's on page 588, and dustoff003, your recollection's pretty good: there's 7 settings for volume, plus an on-or-off setting. Unfortunately the default volume setting is at maximum. These settings require a dealership to adjust.
