I have been on a couple of local waitings lists for a seaside pearl touring package #6 for about 30 days. Through a friend I also was put on a waiting list at a dealership in the midwest he has a connection to. This midwest dealership has told me that my prius will arrive in the third week of August. The dealership is about 1200 miles away. Going to pick it up at the dealership is not an option. They have agreed to ship it to me for $800, which they say will take a week. I am paying M.S.R.P. (plus the $800 shipping). If I stay with the local dealers I am told the wait is another 2-3 months. Does anybody have experience with a long distance Prius transaction? Any advice would be helpful.
I have bought and sold used cars on eBay and thus far had no problems.. Personally, I wouldn't think purchasing a brand new car with warranty from a far away dealership would be ANY problem at all. You already now exactly what your getting. Just make sure it is insured with the transport company. I would however, have the dealership fax you a copy of the sticker before you sign for it to make sure it has everything you were promised!
