Hey All Just got my cpo 2010 Prius on Monday. Been loving it! I am about to pull the trigger on the Thule 480R with 53" Aeroblade bars for the Prius. I longboard and can fit my 9'6" board in the car but when my wife come's with me I'd like to be able to throw it on top. The distance between the two bars seems sorta short when I checked out pics of Prii with the roof racks. Do you think its safe to put a 9'6" board on top with the bar distance being so short? Been searching on here about people's experience with longboards up top but haven't found much info.
Just don't let it fly off your car and cause this type of hazard for someone behind you. Driver feels lucky to have survived after surfboard pierces windshield | KHON2 Perhaps you can look into somehow attaching some anchor ropes to the front and back of the board, maybe with straps, to secure the front and back of the board to the under the bumper tow hooks?
