Looking for mechanic in MA or CT

Hi everyone!

This is my first post after joining today, but long time reader, and love this site.

Here's my thing. I have a 2010 Prius with 232k and lately when I start it the engine does the well known loud clunking and rattling noise. I've read a lot of replies on what could be the problem, but I don't have the time to work on it. I just want to find an excellent mechanic who can properly diagnose and fix the problem.

My question is....Does anyone here know of an independent reliable Prius/hybrid trained mechanic in central New England....southern New Hampshire, southern Vermont, Massachusetts, or the Connecticut area? Someone who has experience replacing a head gasket or replacing the motor if needed. Someone reliable that won't take 4 weeks to get the job done. Sorry for stating the obvious, but this car is my office.

Thanks....found a mechanic who is saying new head gasket...makes sense since lots of smoke is coming out tail pipe that smells like coolant and coolant reservoir is getting lower and lower. He doesn't want to do the head gasket and will be giving me an estimate on replacing the motor on Monday. Fun fun! :-(

 

Thanks, I just got a quote from a different mechanic, starting price between $4500 and $5500 to replace engine. Same mechanic quoted $2800-$3200 to rebuild, including new timing chain. Value of the car in working condition is about $4000 as private party sale so starting to look at 2016 Prius.

 

Well just got the 3rd estimate for engine swap, $4500-$5000 seems to be the going rate, ugh

I should add that's for parts and labor, didn't ask about core exchange. Replacement motor has been found and has 87K miles on it.
