I bought one of those flip-down tinted shades that clips onto the visor. I find it really useful sometimes when the glare hits you unexpectedly. The other day, I was driving when the entire wet street ahead of me was reflected by the sun, and it was almost like looking into the sun. The flip-down shade was really just what the doctor ordered. Well, anyhoo, the plastic hinges got loose, and the shade kept falling down by itself, so I thought hard about how to fix it. I was fairly convinced that any sort of heat-treatment was out because it would likely make things worse, and taking it apart was also ruled out, because it seemed sure to break if I tried. I sprinkled some talcum powder in the hinge and worked it around a few times, and it seems to have worked great.
