Hi! I have a 2014 v Five, and love the Alpine wireless CarPlay radio I had installed in it (the iLX-107). We’re looking at adding to the fleet with a 2016 v Five with the technology package, and I am hoping to confirm that you don’t lose any of those very expensive features when you rip the Entune system out. Any assistance would be much appreciated. Thank you!
From the “Advanced Technology Package” described on page 20 in the sales brochure (PDF): The “Entune Premium JBL Audio with Integrated Navigation and App Suite” and “Entune App Suite” features would definitely be lost if the Navigation Receiver Assembly were replaced with a third-party radio head unit. I’m not sure about the “Safety Connect” feature; it might continue to work if the new head unit supports the mute signal and the output to the right front speakers is wired through the Telematics Transceiver. The “Dynamic Radar Cruise Control (DRCC),” “Pre-Collision System (PCS),” “Lane Departure Alert (LDA),” “Auto High Beams (AHB),” and “Panoramic View Moonroof with power sliding sunshades” features do not appear to depend on the Navigation Receiver Assembly, according to the system diagrams in Toyota’s Repair Manual (more info). The Navigation Receiver Assembly is also the display for the rear view monitor system (backup camera).
