OSLO, Norway (AP) - President George W. Bush's "Hook 'em, 'Horns" salute got lost in translation in Norway, where shocked people interpreted his family's hand gesture during his inauguration as a salute to Satan.

A Linguistics professor once told a similar story. Apperantly - and someone can clarify - in the Middle East, the same gesture can be used to insinuate that someone's wife tends to, uh, get around. If you know what I mean.

He had spent a year or so writing a book on Middle Eastern Linguistics and when he returned, a friend from Texas A&M invited him to stay for a while. When they attended a football game, they walked into the stadium to be welcomed by several thousand college student who apperantly knew his wife!
