Completed Toyota Dealer 50,000 mile check up. No problems. While driving home on the freeway all the dashboard emergency lights came on and the car lost power and stopped. Car towed back to dealer. Could not find problem. Dealer tested all systems and they tested properly. Explanation: Engine stalling could have been caused by small debris getting caught in MAF sensor, but is clear at this time. How can this happen???? Question, if there was debris, where did it go???? Scary to have your car shut down on freeway with no warning. At night we could have been easily run over by another vehicle.
Please look at the 50,000 mile service invoice and post the details. Having crap coat the MAF would be caused by someone checking/replacing the engine air filter and not clipping the housing back on tight.
Best way for us to give a competent guess is to know the Check Engine Light (CEL) codes it threw. The dealer has them. Call the dealer and get them. But I can tell you even with the MAF unplugged (worst case) the engine will run (although with poor power) and throws the yellow check engine light only. Not a slew of lights. Something else is going on. First thing to check is if your Inverter Cooling Pump has been replaced under recall. Search recall thread below. You can check and see if your car is listed using your vin. Other candidate is a very sooty throttle body which is very common and if real bad will kill the engine throwing multiple codes.Easy fix is to clean it. Search my old threads as I have a good write up on how to do it if interested. Its pretty easy. And a necessary maintenance thing. We need codes please.Good luck.
