Prius was fine. Long 9 hour drive to another city, car sits for 11 days, then long drive back with another person driving. Car sits for 5 days. Gas mileage on the trip was poor, but then some of the speeds were high. Only 51K miles on the odo. Today I take it out to run an errand. Close to home I notice the hybrid battery is only half full - usually it's one bar from full. Back into the driveway as usual and shut down, and there is a LOUD, low-pitched, short screech from the front. I fear for my wallet.
Maybe some clues in your signature, one of the mods? Don’t see the hybrid battery state of charge being significant.
It will be a day or two before driving again, but I can report that just before the trip a trusted local garage replaced the front brakes and rotors. It's kept outside, so...
Lol. No. That's just a tiny black plastic box that makes ultrasonic sounds and flashes LEDs. Not capable of such a loud noise. I will try to get out today to check fluids at least. Still recovering from heart valve surgery, which is what the trip was for.
Maybe it was a groan rather than a screech. It didn't sound like brake noise to me, more from the engine compartment. I will report back after checking fluids.
Maybe do a test drive sooner, see if the sound happens again, or other clues arise. brakes could be it. You back into your driveway (or I’m misreading)? Driveway slopes, and if so which way?
