Howdy, I have a 2006 Prius and I've been trying to diagnose a flapping noise that's coming from the rear right side when I'm going above 60 mph approximately. It sounds like a "slapping" noise at about 2 or 3 "slaps" per second. First I thought something was stuck in the HV battery cooling fan so I took it apart and cleaned it. It was just dusty. That didn't solve the problem. I now suspect the rubber flaps covering the vent on the inside of the bumper (see attached picture). I'm not sure what it's called and I don;t know why is would start flapping now. I just had the car serviced for 120K miles. Any suggestions? Thanks -Adrian
I suggest you check the right-rear tire and axle to see if something is stuck to the tire or axle; or if the tire has a defect that is causing the noise. Good luck.
