A few years back I posted about how my Prius’ low beam light bulbs kept having to be replaced every 3 to 6 months. I found out through here that there had been a recall notice on them. I took it to my dealership who had never heard of it and said that he would take care of it. Regardless of whether I buy cheap headlights or expensive ones, they still don’t last a year even after supposedly being fixed. Suggestions?

After the recall fix, any bulbs installed to low beams won't fail prematurely anymore due to higher than normal operating voltage. Compatible bulbs will at least last to its advertised life expectancy, gotta get the recall fix first.

Typically, the expensive don't last as long as the basic ones. You need the modified wiring harness (which effectively is just a resistor).

Strangely, I haven't had a low-beam bulb burn out yet, even with a typical percentage of night driving and without the fix.
