Hi , my 2012 Prius hybrid battery stopped working about 1yr ago so I've been running the car without it for about 100k miles . Recently I replaced the Water Pumps plastic rotor which solved my overheating issues. Howevera month later I'm losing coolant from the reservoir and the coolant warning light is coming on . I can't find where it's leaking , code says it could be the coolant temperature sensor getting a low current. I'm going to compression test fearing cylinder issues and need to put car in maintenance mode apparently. Is that possible with hybrid system not working ? Also the hybrid system randomly came back to life for a couple of days, after I jump started the car from the fuse box terminal . Any thoughts ?
Your fuel mileage must suck! And driving is slow. And you likely have a blown head gasket. Pull the plugs and look inside the holes. I'd bet that #'s 1 nd 2 pistons are cleaner than 3 & 4. The hybrid battery must get and keep enough charge to turn the engine over. Maybe check the inverter, and for any loose connections since I "assume", you mean it charges the battery correctly?
Wow that sounds really cool man. Sounds like you driving real slow and going nowhere I guess you bike to work or something or what have you. I guess you don't know anything about the two Z Atkinson cycle engine that's in your vehicle or what have you It's probably shocked basically I guess this is one of those plug-in things or something? Sounds disastrous.
Something not adding up in that statement. Also, could be your hybrid battery is deteriorating, but if it was indeed kaput I don’t the car would even start. What’s the miles on the odometer?
I don't see how the ICE can start with a dead traction battery, much less drive 100K+ mile. Every time you stop at an intersection and the ICE shuts down; I don't see how it can restart itself.
If the computer thinks they battery is low and needs charging, it will keep running. Kinda hard to believe it's been driven 100,000 miles like that though....
