my prius c is approaching 30k and has run out of free service at the dealership. Its getting about the time, I'll b doing my own maintenance. was wondering how to control the computer display to stop annoying reminders?
You can't stop the reminders if you go over the mileage that Toyota has told the computer to remind you that service is needed or will be needed soon. Having said that turning the reminder off once it alerts you is very simple. The directions are in the Owner's Manual. I had to have the dealership show me how to do it as at 70 I'm technology challenged. Hell, I still think computers will never catch on. But even I learned how to turn the reminder message off and I can do it in one try.
If the C-type is anything like its big brother, then there's no way to turn off the reminder. This is more of a profit generator for the slimy dealerships than anything else. Just reset and go. At 85K, I've just about gotten to the point where I can do it without looking it up....and if you're a reformed Luddite like me you can always bookmark the OM or put a cheat-sheet in the glove box. Good Luck!
the plug in has a reset procedure in the manual, as did our gen II's. mine just came on as well, at 32,500. don't need maint. but do need to turn it off.
You guys are lucky to have a warning light.... Canadian version doesn't even have one.... Maybe Toyota Canada don't think we need change oil.... LOL
