Changed the engine oil last weekend at the in-laws' house. 800 miles later (they live 600 miles away, memorial day weekend getaway) today the Maint Req'd light came on. I checked the service manual and just as I suspected it said to replace the engine oil. This can't be right, I put some awesome Valvoline 5w30 Max Life into the car. It drives smoother than it did with the Pennzoil. I replaced the filter too (Purolator). Do I just need to reset it or is there really an issue here? (btw I dislike the new layout! grrr!!)
The light will start blinking at 4500 miles from when it was last reset, and stay on from 5000 miles from when it was last reset. Then you reset it again. The car is not 'testing' the oil.
