Wow, lots of interesting stuff there. Thanks for posting the link. One thing that stood out for me a lot was the difference in birth and death rates of Australia compared to other countries. For Australia, population approx. 20 million, a person is born every 2.1 minutes and dies every 3.4 minutes. A comparably sized country (population wise) like Saudi Arabia has a birth every 42.7 seconds and a death every 8 minutes. Those are huge differences... BTW, I thought China was currently emitting CO2 at a rate much closer to that of the U.S. than the map shows.
Indeed this wiki List of countries by carbon dioxide emissions - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia shows that circa 2004, China was a much closer 2nd to the US, and cites more recent refs indicating that it has since captured 1st place. Per capita, the situation is much different, but the wiki on that needs to be freshened up.
