I ordered a MAF Mass Air Flow Sensor Meter for 2008 Toyota Prius. Looking at the old sensor, the "tube" that inserts into the body has a capped/closed/rounded end. The new one has a 3/8 "+- hole at the end. Are they interchangeable? It said it was for my year Prius.
It's just a sensor mass air flow sensor when you flip it over and look at it it kind of looks strange I don't even know what to tell you it sounds like to me you're talking about the camshaft position sensor but I won't swear to that can you post a picture of your sensor the people here would love that and then they can tell you real quick the MAF sensor looks like there's a trap on the end of it and air runs up in there and hits this element looking thing The camshaft position sensor and sensors like that have a flat end on them that looks like they rub close to something and send something going by the front of it right smartly. That's the best way I can explain it all parts won't look the same but I wasn't aware of a big change on the look of the MAF sensor there is no MAF meter or air flow meter in this car as we know it from the '80s
Do you have a picture of the new sensor or even a side-by-side with the old and new one? I can't really visualize what you are trying to illustrate from your description.
What brand of sensor are you looking at? Part number? I would only use Denso or Toyota from a reputable source (not ebay - amazon). Posted via the PriusChat mobile app.
