Can someone tell me what the significance of "Fred's House of Pancakes"? I know what the forum is for (i.e. a catch-all for non-car-related chat), but where did the title come from? Did someone just think it sounded good, or is there some broader, pop culture significance that I'm missing?
And as it turns out, you can get anything you want at Fred's House of Pancakes. For those who don't know, Fred's House of Pancakes wasn't always called FHOP. It was originally something less interesting. But we needed somewhere for all the off-topic discussions and wanted a name equally as off-topic. eg239 posted a picture of Oolong the bunny, Bookrats suggested the name FHOP, and the forum was indeed renamed. Here's a bit of history: http://www.priuschat.com/forums/hey-you-ca...nts-vt3277.html http://www.priuschat.com/forums/change-nam...rum-vt2682.html [Broken External Image]:http://home.nc.rr.com/econner1/Oolong.jpg
I sort of wish Oolong was wearing a Toaster Streudel at the time... Fred's House of Toaster Struedels would have been even more elaborate a name... I believe someone mentioned once that given that we have international community here on PC.com, the name should be changed to Fred's International House of Pancakes.
