my wife travels with me often. she has her key in her purse for my car. we have had no problem in 4 years. Today the yellow triangle showed up and the message ( message: key detected in vehicle) appeared. my 2010 operated as usual and the message disappeared then came back several times.
It has not repeated so far. If it does I will check batteries. I'm afraid to ,Last time I replaced the key fob batt. it stopped working and cost me 200$. I'm running a test on the 12 volt. Its original and I test it every 6 mo. and it shows excellent health.
Check to see if your rear hatch is closed all the way. I had this issue for a day. Once I opened and shut the hatch it went away. It maybe a sensor loose back there as well.
